Herpes simplex and herpes Zoster

We have treated several patients of Herpes simplex, zoaster and genitals with paramount success.

Herpes is a chronic and recurrent condition caused by herpes simplex viruses of two types a) HSV-1, or Herpes Type 1, and b) HSV-2, or Herpes Type2. Over a period of time, the DNA of the virus changes and they become resistant to antiviral drugs, making herpes difficult to combat with conventional medicine. Many people never have symptoms even though they are carrying the virus. Others get sores near the area where the virus has entered the body. They turn into blisters, become itchy and painful, and then heal. The virus can be dangerous in newborn babies or in people with weak immune systems.

1) Primary herpes simplex 2) Recurrent herpes simplex Primary herpes simplex – Occurs when the patient has been exposed to the virus for the first time. It usually manifests on mouth, corners of lips, conjunctiva, eyes, vulva,vagina ,penis and other mucocutaneous junctions . It is an acute condition and may be associated with systemic symptoms.

Recurrent herpes simplex – After initial infection the patient may continue to get multiple, grouped small bunch like vesicles and ulcerations with or without burning sensation .Most of the times the lesions are located around skin folds like mouth, nose and genitals but sometimes on thighs, legs and forehead etc. Homeopathic solution to this is generally very successful as far as treating the eruptions is concerned .The challenge is to control the recurrences and secondary bacterial infection for which so far no specific remedy is available and deep acting constitutional remedy is required generally. The vesicles may heal within a week’s time and homeopathic treatment can help in reducing pain and inflammation.

Herpes zoster – It is caused by Varicella zoster virus. It occurs in individuals who are partially immune to the virus. After an attack of chicken pox, the virus is believed to get lodged in the posterior root ganglion(s) where it remains dormant. It may be activated due to immune suppressed drugs or even in normal patients. One sided vesicular eruptions with neuralgic pain is the important manifestation .In our experience Homeopathic treatment if started early can treat vesicles, ulceration, scarring and relieve post herpetic neuralgia.
