Homeopathy can bring back the confidence in patients to flaunt envious hair which they regain after treatment

Most of the patients at our clinic with hair problems have been running pillar to post with the moth eaten appearance of the scalp in search of appropriate treatment for this cosmetic problem before trying homeopathy. Hair loss can occur in various form but primarily the patient is concerned about bunches of hair coming out while combing or bald patches and thinning of hair on scalp. Hair loss usually develops gradually and may be patchy or all over (diffuse). One loses roughly 100 hairs from head every day. The average scalp contains about 100,000 hairs.

Baldness is not usually caused by a disease. It is related to aging, heredity, and changes in the hormone, testosterone. Inherited or “pattern baldness” affects many more men than women. About one-half of men begin to bald by the time they are 30 years old, and most are either bald or have a balding pattern by age 60. Diffuse alopecia– Most common variety of alopecia encountered in day to day practice. Pregnancy, High levels of the male hormones (in men as well as in women) can trigger the onset of Alopecia Areata.Other factors can be Thyroid disorders ,Drugs and medications like chemotherapy drugs, antimitotic agents, anti coagulants ,certain medicines used for gout, arthritis, depression, hypertension. Chemical treatment of hair, exposure of hair to excessive heat ,Low levels of iron ,Large doses of Vitamin A, prolonged fever particularly typhoid, surgical shock, haemorrhage including blood donation, crash dieting, SLE and any other chronic illness .

Alopecia Areata or Patchy Hair loss -The causes of Alopecia Areata are not fully understood. It is considered to be an auto-immune condition in which the immune system of the body (which protects the body from bacteria, viruses, allergens, etc.) mistakenly attacks the hair follicles and destroys them. This leads to hair loss in the affected area. This abnormal behavior of the immune system is understood to be guided, influenced and triggered by multiple factors. In addition to factors mentioned above Reduced protein intake, lichen planus scalp, Fungal infection of scalp, any co morbidity as SLE, RA etc can be the triggering factor.stress is a very important factor known to stimulate the hypothalamus which in turn can alter the hormonal secretions of the anterior pituitary gland which can lower the immunity. Pressure alopecia – Prolonged traction in hair due to specific hair dressing style may cause broken hair initially followed by redness around follicles, scaling and scarring.

Pseudopelade is a variety of cicatrical alopecia where hair follicles are destroyed by scarring. There is no sure shot treatment for this condition but deep acting constitutional homeopathic remedies have shown successful results in arresting the further deterioration at our clinic. Premature Greying of hair/canities: Though it is a worrisome cosmetic problem, it has been having psychological effect on the individuals especially in children and teens. There is no medicine to reverse the graying but certain homeopathic medicines have successfully arrested the further greying of hair. Hirsuitism: excessive hair growth on in the females on an adult male sexual pattern is called hirsuitism. In some cases the underlying endocrinological abnormality like PCOD,Ovarian, uterine tumour etc may be the cause and in such cases the underlying cause needs to be treated
